| ACHIEVEMENTS IN 2009 |

During 2009, Friends of Fogg Dam Inc. (FOFD) have:
· 42 financial members plus additional people who have asked to be included on the FOFD mailing list · updated our Business Plan · brought to the attention of authorities the need for urgent repair of the Fogg Dam causeway as a risk management issue – this was acted upon · purchased tools for use at working bees plus occupational health and safety equipment and developed an Interpretive Shelter of 5 signs about Fogg Dam on Anzac Parade with funding from an Australia Post/Landcare grant of $3,000.00 · purchased, installed, painted a container to store tools in and equipped with filing cabinet, and shelving with a $3,000.00 grant from Telstra Shop Darwin and Telstra Business Centre NT · officially opened the Interpretive Shelter on Anzac Parade by the then Minister for the Environment, the Hon. Alison Anderson in partnership with the Traditional Owners and Middle Point Primary School. The Traditional Owners performed a corroboree and school students gave a presentation about the history of Fogg Dam. · continued to have six monthly presentations from staff of Sydney University Tropical Ecology Research Centre which are very much appreciated · held working bees to remove snake weed and mission grass from the woodland to water lily walk, pandanus lookout area and the monsoon forest walk. · bestowed honourary membership on Mr Peter Walker of Imagineer Creative Designs for his assistance to FOFD including the creation and hosting of our website · been successful with two grant applications: o EnvironmenNT Grant of $5,150.00 towards holding a Field Day at Fogg Dam in April 2010 o EnvironmeNT Heritage Grant of $5,000 to prepare a booklet on the Humpty Doo Rice Project and a leaflet that can be downloaded from the internet identifying a trail of places and equipment from the project.

We are grateful for the support we have received from: · Fogg Dam Parks & Wildlife, in particular Mark Fogarty and Dean Lonza for providing facilities for meetings, advice and provisions for BBQs at our working bees · Peter Foster of Landcare for information and advice · our local member, Kezia Purick, for her interest and allowing us to use her community room for meetings. · Sydney University Tropical Ecology Research Centre at Middle Point for giving six monthly presentations on their research in the area. · All of our members and supporters.
