5. Business arising from correspondence: · Heather met with Hannah Brodie Hall on 10th Feb and discussed possible projects that Australian Conservation Volunteers could do with FOFD and P&W, eg a seat at the end of the Monsoon Forest boardwalk. They have been added to FOFD contact email listing. · Request form to be completed and returned to St Johns Ambulance - Jeremy · Sustainable Living Expo 5,6 June – combination of former World Environment Day and Tropical Garden Spectacular – awaiting further information and have expressed interest in participating with Landcare..
6. Fogg Dam Field Day, 11 April 2010 · Organising committee has met in January and February. · Program almost finalised. · Problem with hiring shuttle buses from car rental groups – clash with superbikes. To check on chartering buses with drivers, possibility of use of school buses. · Working plan updated. · Free government buses between Palmerston and Fogg Dam organised · Promotion planned. Maureen able to deliver fliers to libraries · Check with Parks re parking signs, witches hats, etc · Need Volunteers to assist at entry, act as guides, erect display, organise transport across causeway, collect exit surveys and otherwise assist visitors.
7. Humpty Doo Rice Trail. First draft of the Humpty Doo Rice Trail booklet has been received and first payment of $1500.00 made. An editorial group established: Jo, Jane, Leisa, Heather. Launch of the booklet will be after the Field Day. We have until the end of September to acquit the grant.
8. Donation box & brochure holders Signs for the donation box should now be printed and ready for installation. Installation required by Field Day.
9. Finance $1,697.00 in Bank a/c: $10,000.00 in Fixed Deposit becomes available on 14 Feb 10. Some reimbursements for payments waiting to be approved.
10. Wildfowl hunting. Jeremy made a brief report stating there had been considerable shooting before and after the official starting and stopping times. Also, many hunters have ignored Parks signs on where to hunt and hunters have entered Eden at Fogg Dam property to shoot. Numerous reports had been made to the police. Photos have been taken and cartridge shells and other rubbish left on private land adjacent to Harrison Dam collected. Data will be collated for provision to the police and Parks management later.
